چکیده

The nature of the nano-scale environment presents a major challenge for solid-state implementation of spin-based qubits. In this work, a single electron spin in an optically pumped nanometer-sized III-V semiconductor quantum dot is used to control a macroscopic nuclear spin of several thousand nuclei, freezing its decay and leading to spin life-times exceeding 100 seconds at low temperatures. Few-millisecond-fast optical initialization of the nuclear spin is followed by a slow decay exhibiting random telegraph signals at long delay ∗Current address: Toshiba Research Europe Limited, 260 Cambridge Science Park,Cambridge CB4 0WE, UK

Dynamical nuclear polarization using multi-colour control of color centers in diamond

Dynamical nuclear polarization (DNP) transfers the polarization of electron spins at cryogenic temperatures to achieve strong nuclear polarization for applications in nuclear magnetic resonance. Recently introduced approaches employ optical pumping of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond to achieve DNP even at ambient temperatures. In such schemes microwave radiation is used to establish a ...

Nuclear effects in Kerr rotation-detected magnetic resonance of electrons in GaAs

Wehave studied nuclear effects on electron spins in lightly doped n-GaAs bulk and quantumwell samples using optically detected magnetic resonance, with the optical detection done via Kerr rotation. The magnetic resonance signal allowed us to measure the electron T ∗ 2 lifetimes and g-factors. We observed strong dynamic nuclear polarization, which was controllable via nuclear magnetic resonance ...

High-Fidelity Bidirectional Nuclear Qubit Initialization in SiC.

Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is an attractive method for initializing nuclear spins that are strongly coupled to optically active electron spins because it functions at room temperature and does not require strong magnetic fields. In this Letter, we theoretically demonstrate that DNP, with near-unity polarization efficiency, can be generally realized in weakly coupled electron spin-nuclea...

Optically oriented and detected electron spin resonance in a lightly doped n-GaAs layer

Spin resonance of localized electrons bound to donors in a specially designed n-GaAs layer has been performed at 236 MHz and 41 mT, using circular polarized light to polarize the electrons and photoluminescence to detect the electronic polarization. The polarization was diminished under the resonance condition. The electronic g factor obtained by this measurement is 20.4160.01. The resonance li...

Sensitive magnetic control of ensemble nuclear spin hyperpolarization in diamond.

Dynamic nuclear polarization, which transfers the spin polarization of electrons to nuclei, is routinely applied to enhance the sensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance. This method is particularly useful when spin hyperpolarization can be produced and controlled optically or electrically. Here we show complete polarization of nuclei located near optically polarized nitrogen-vacancy centres in...
